Bringing different generations together at BNP Paribas
BNP Paribas Foris is a bank with a diverse group of employees and believes this diversity enriches the workplace. For BNP Paribas, it can sometimes be challenging to connect with different profiles and to bring them together. One of these challenges was to find the similarities between employees of different generations who can have a different vision on work culture. BNP Paribas asked us to help them find ways to bring these generations together.
How we got to know their world
We were invited by BNP Paribas to lead a brainstorm on intergenerational management in two different provinces, with managers from different departments and levels. During these brainstorms, we challenged them to think beyond the stereotypes one generation might have about the other and to keep an open mind. We asked them think about actions and changes they could implement and that would bring employees from different generations together. And they certainly surprised us with their creativity.
What an external view can do
Sometimes the answer can be right in front of you and you just don’t see it. That’s why it can be important to invite an external view at the table. The managers and employees of BNP Paribas knew what needed to happen, we were just there to help them realize it.
